The name "Bluestem" was chosen to honor the monarch of the prairie grasses - Big Bluestem. The preferred grass for prairie sod by settlers, Big Bluestem grows three to eight feet tall in wet dry-clay or open-sand soil types. While the plants appear as individual clumps, their roots mesh together to form a dense sod. In fact, early settler pictures reveal an impressive ocean of green - the product of Big Bluestem and other wild prairie grasses thriving together. Today, this same area is proudly home to the richest soils in the world.
Just as the roots of the Bluestem grass stretch deep into the prairie soil, we at Bluestem Capital Company extend our expertise to the communities that we serve, resulting in a stronger, more vibrant economy. Additionally, our Midwestern "roots" serve as a solid foundation from which we expand our commitment to the financial development and well being of our business, customers and the communities we serve.
